The thing we love about POSCA paint markers is that one set of pens will go a long way as you can work them over virtually any surface. Here we show you how you can customise everyday essentials with POSCA paint markers.
THE multi-surface marker
POSCA paint markers are an excellent multi-surface, creative pen, which is why they are great value. One pen has a multitude of uses. The paint marker contains water-based pigment ink which is lightfast, water resistant and will write on almost any surface.
POSCA pens are permanent and bleed-proof on paper and card (as it absorbs into the fibres), and can be made permanent on the following:
- – Terracotta – bake at 220°C for 45 minutes, then spray with clear varnish
- – Porcelain – bake at 160°C for 45 minutes, then spray with clear varnish
- – Glass – bake at 160°C for 45 minutes then spray with clear varnish
- – Textiles – iron on reverse
- – Metal, stone, leather, plastic and wood – spray with clear varnish

Brighten up a fabric face mask
At the start of this year no-one could have predicted that face masks would be an everyday thing. While we’re embracing the new normal we can add a bit of our personality to these new accessories.
Customising a fabric face mask is easy with POSCA pens. Simply work on them with your favourite paint pen with any design you like. Then just give them a press with the iron on the back and they are ready to wear. We updated these simple masks with easy spots using a 7M POSCA and created a star themed one with our sparkly POSCAs.
Ditch the disposables
As you know we’re committed to reducing our consumption of single use plastics by introducing pen refill packs and plastic free packaging. So why not take it a bit further by getting rid of your plastic water bottles and disposable coffee cups and get some refillable ones?
Make your permanent receptacles special by personalising them with POSCA pens. We’ve updated a metal water bottle with colourful folksy flowers. We first made our bright base shapes then waited for the paint to dry before overlaying with highlights and details. For our coffee cup we keep things super simple and used a silver 1M POSCA to create a basic eucalyptus pattern. Both are easy to identify so they won’t get confused with anyone else’s so it’s a great way to ensure no-one uses your drinking vessels.
Super shoppers!
In the spirit of ditching your disposables, swap your single use plastic bag with a cool fabric tote updated with your designs.
Because these pens work so well on fabric you can produce any design you like, from a simple black line drawing as seen above to a detailed animal portrait shown below. To make the design last, just apply your design to the tote, turn it inside out and iron.
