We love Christmas trends, seasonal decorations and festive crafting at uni-ball. For that reason, our favourite aspects of the festive season is making cards and wrapping our gifts with gorgeous seasonal looks. In the second of our Christmas trends round up we show you three Christmas looks you are sure to love plus some ideas on how you can recreate them. Check out part one for more ideas.
Christmas trends: TROPICAL MOTIFS
First of all, let’s think outside the box. This is one of the most quirky Christmas trends we’ve seen in a while. Forget Santas and snowmen. Embrace, pineapples, flamingos and cacti for this year’s hottest festive theme. Go global and dress your trees and mantelpieces with the brightest baubles. Choose from a range of symbols from around the world. Check out these fab Christmas tree decorations from Debenhams (below) and George Home (above).
It’s all about adding a warm tropical flavour to this year’s Crimbo with vibrant colours and playful motifs. We love this hibiscus flower hanging decoration from M&S!
If you’re loving the tropical theme why not adorn plain gift boxes with a tropical rather than trad design? We used POSCA sparkling pens to decorate our hibiscus and monstera leaf themed gift boxes.

Christmas trends: CLASSY METALLICS
In contrast, you can always go super classy with luxe metallic tones. We always think of gold and silver when it comes to Christmas, however this year’s trend calls for more restrained subtle metallic touches. These bronze votives from Sainsbury’s add that twinkly touch you’d expect from Xmas table decorations but with a mottled, vintage style.
Subtlety and contrast is key for this look. You can see sparkly silver elements teamed with clean, clear glass in these stunning baubles from Next (maybe you could further embellish with POSCA paint markers?). Similarly, these black and white crackers from John Lewis are lifted with tiny gold and silver motifs.
This is one of our favourite of the Christmas trends. You can recreate this look in your gifting by decorating plan white wrapping paper by applying dots of gold and silver POSCA paint pen across it. Colour-in a star-shaped mdf tag with white 8K POSCA, wait to dry then use the same technique on your tag
Christmas trends: PROUD PEACOCKS
Finally we’ve got a smashing Christmas trend for bird lovers and stylish dandies. Beautiful and elegant, in stunning shades of blue, teal and emerald green, it’s no wonder that peacock feathers are an enduring motif for Christmas. Capitalising on one of the hottest Christmas trends, John Lewis have an amazing range of luxurious, be-jewelled peacock feather themed baubles. Which one is your favourite?
These feathers are so decorative in themselves you don’t even need glitter or sparkles. Just take a look at this luxurious peacock feather wreath from Homesense. We think that it will look great on a black front door or dark wall for added drama. We are absolutely loving those teal, royal blue, gold and bronze hues.
Wanna pick up the peacock mantel? How about using Signo broad pens to create your very own feather bauble card? We opted for contrast by working on black card therefore making the metallics pop. We used metallic purples and reds here but maybe you could gold and silvers for added contrast?
